Metrology Bootcamp & Measurement Uncertainty Workshop
IIGDT is proud to support a new training initiative by PQI. Please join us for our 3-day Metrology Boot Camp course. We’ll use classroom presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on activities to drill our participants on the basic elements of dimensional measurement.
Course Objectives
- Describe the elements of a valid measurement
- Understand length traceability & its importance in dimensional measurement
- Understand relationship tolerances & impact on measurement tool selection
- Apply linear measurement systems and interpret their specifications
- Utilize practical precision hand tools to inspect parts to print
- Introduction to Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R)
- Introduction to surface and form measurement in both 2D and 3D space
- Apply 2 & 3 dimensional measurement systems for valid point acquisition
- Introduction to GD&T standards for interpreting print specifications
Measurement Uncertainty - New topics!
- Discuss how measurement uncertainty sources can change depending on the measurement system
- Hands-on measurement testing on 1 part feature with multiple measurement systems
- Build feature specific uncertainty budgets for hand tools, video measuring systems, coordinate measuring systems, and CT scanners
